Greetings!

Paws and Play is asking that you please stay tuned for more details.  If you would like to be added to the mailing list please respond with your address (for those who are not computerized-or would just like one-I have a snail mail mailing list-the invites are so cute!).  You may invite as many people as you'd like and they may contact me as they wish.

Take time to “paws” and play with your K-9!

GIVE YOUR DOG/S AN OPPORTUNITY TO SOCIALIZE WITH OTHER HUMANS. *A dog accustomed to meeting humans is lessblikely to have a fear response toward strangers.*

GIVE YOUR DOG/S AN OPPORTUNITY TO SOCIALIZE WITH OTHER DOGS. *Dogs will not feel the need to display dominance if they are comfortable meeting other dogs.*

ALLOW YOUR DOG/S (AND YOU) TO GET SOME EXERCISE. *An exercised dog is healthier, and less prone to anxiety behaviors like repetitive barking or destroying property.*

DOG SOCIALS HAVE A POSITIVE EFFECT ON US OWNERS *Dogs are a great ice-breaker. A dog social promotes friendships and a feeling of belonging to a community. Owning a dog encourages people to exercise. Taking a dog out has also been found to stimulate social interaction with other people (Journal of Nutrition and the Elderly, 1996).*

SPENDING TIME WITH ONE'S PET IS CONSIDERED AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT LEISURE ACTIVITY. *So load the dog/s into thevcar, bring their leashes and your sneakers and spend a pleasant couple of hours exploring some Cook Forest Park trails. We promise you and your dog/s will make some new friends and your dogs will sleep the whole way home pleasantly dreaming of forest smells and critters and their fun filled afternoon. Please bring pets that are up to date on vaccinations, water and doggie doo bags, too.*

“My granddaughter and I took 2 of my dogs to the last Paws and Play Social held at Oil Creek Park. The dogs sniffed the other dogs, every blade of grass, mound of moss and tree stump. They extended their leashes as far as they could and explored, explored, and explored. Every dog got along with every other dog. We humans chatted ,talking about dogs, the park, the trail and what a great afternoon we were spending. I was pleasantly surprised. That was my canine kids 1st dog social and it won’t be their last. I could see smiles on their faces as they curled up on the back seat of the car and slept during the trip home.” ...Janet Ochs
